Celas Maya (Centro de Estudios Linguisticos Antopologicos y Sociales MAYA) is a private institution with an intercultural vision, ever-conscious of the economic, social and political oppression of the Mayan population within Guatemala. Our school offers intensive, one-on-one Spanish or K'iche' language classes with a member of our excellent and experienced teaching staff. We also promote improved access to education and technology among Mayan youths through our scholarship programs.

Students study in a beautiful and spacious courtyard garden located two blocks away from the Parque Centroamérica and the center of Quetzaltenango. Because the physical environment of the school is so comfortable, students come here outside their class hours to study, watch a film in our video projection room, or meet to go out to a café or bar. In this way, as well as through the daily activities organized by the school, students tend to make good connections with each other and with the staff of teachers. We also provide travel advice through our travel agency and free internet service.

We use our own guides, exercises, homework and above all, continuous conversation to help our students improve all aspects of their Spanish skills. As all classes are one on one students must converse with the teacher, dramatically improving conversational skills within a short period of time. This also allows the student to learn at his/her own pace.
